The Technoprops Facial Capture System features a lightweight and production proven helmet mounted camera capturing high definition global shutter video at up to 60fps. Our headrigs have been the "go to" facial capture solution used on high profile feature film and games projects such as "Avatar", "Halo 4", "TinTin", "John Carter of Mars", and "Lost Planet 3".

Custom Headrigs

Our custom headrigs are designed for a project’s specific requirements, ensuring a comfortable and reliable fit. Custom helmets can be created using digital scans of the actor's head or by a traditional life cast if time is tight. Single or multi-camera designs are available.

Technoprops vacuform masks are made from digital scans or traditional life casts. Holes are drilled into the mask to speed up the process of makeup dot marker application. A 3D printed bust can also be created and is useful for headrig storage and camera alignment, helping to ensure a perfect fit and precise capture.

Generic helmets provide a comfortable and stable platform for our global shutter HD cameras. Each helmet comes with customizable interior padding for a snug fit. Helmets are available in sizes small, medium, large and extra large.

A unique ball joint mount design gives ultimate flexibility for camera placement and allows for easy single tool alignment. Each camera has an interchangeable LED light ring which can be dimmed wirelessly to help achieve proper exposure in even the most challenging lighting environments.

Note: The Technoprops HD Camera is typically operated at 60fps with 4ms exposure time. This produces an image without motion blur, perfect for tracking. Using log LUTS, reliable data can be acquired while shooting in complete darkness using only the onboard LED lighting transitioning into outdoor sunlight in a single shot without auto exposure enabled.

The High Definition Camera Control Recorder (HDCCR) is a combined body worn HD studio recorder and Camera Control Unit. The HDCCR is wirelessly operated and records timecode embedded Quicktime movie files to the shelf removable Solid State Drives. A 256GB SSD will record up to 5 hours of 1920x1080p DHXHD200Mb @ 30fps.
